Dino Voice / Updates
Release notes
Version 2.22
- The move is complete: this website now runs entirely on the Dino Island server, the same machine as the game server, Dino Bot, and Proximity Voice. Nothing about how the site looks or works changes; it just all lives in one home now, under our own control.
Version 2.21
- Website teleports now run on the Dino Island server too, start to finish: pick a place on the Game tab and the request never leaves the island's own machine. Same prices, and the first website teleport each day is still free.
Version 2.20
- Sign in with Discord, join codes, and remembered browsers now run on the Dino Island server itself. If the site shows you signed out one time, just sign in again; your Discord link and Rejoin voice carry on as before.
Version 2.19
- A Recent supporters wall on the Donate tab: the latest members who chipped in through Buy Me a Coffee, with the messages they left, right where the next supporter decides.
Version 2.18
- Status now speaks for each part of Dino Island on its own: the game server, Dino Bot, Proximity Voice, and the website each show their own state.
- When one part is being worked on, it shows as Maintenance with a notice at the top of the page saying what is paused and when it is back, instead of the whole island looking down.
- The same notice shows in the Discord server status post, so both places always tell the same story.
Version 2.10
- New Game tab. Teleports and the Field Report now live there, in one place for everything about the game itself.
- The Field Report moved out of Server Status, which is back to just the health of the server, the bot, and voice.
Version 2.9
- Teleport from the Voice tab. While you are in Proximity Voice, pick a place and teleport straight there. Your first voice teleport each day is free, then 700 marks each.
- In game, type !teleport or !tp with a place name or its short code, like !tp GP for Grand Plains. In game teleports cost 1,000 marks.
Version 2.8
- A cleaner button system across the Voice Link tab. Buttons now share one size, shape, and style, so Connect, Discord sign in, and the rest all look like they belong together.
- Same layout, same features, same glass look. Nothing moved and nothing works differently, it just looks more consistent, in both themes and on every screen size.
Version 2.7
- Optional Discord sign in. Sign in with Discord on the Voice Link tab, enter a join code once, and your Discord links to your player. After that, signing in with Discord brings you straight into voice with no code.
- Discord stays optional. The join code works exactly as before, signed in or not, and you can sign out or unlink at any time from the same place.
Version 2.6
- A new Liquid Glass look. The island's panels are now frosted glass over a deep jungle backdrop, with soft edge highlights and rounder corners, in both the light and dark themes.
- Same layout, same features. Everything works exactly as before, just in glass. Devices that ask for reduced transparency get a solid version instead.
Version 2.5
- A modern refresh for small screens and split screen. The dinosaur in the header is larger and scales smoothly with the size of the window, and the three tabs stay on one row on phones instead of wrapping.
- Type and spacing scale smoothly between phone, tablet, and desktop sizes instead of jumping at set widths.
- Touch polish: buttons answer with a subtle press effect, scrolling is smoother, and keyboard focus is easier to see.
Version 2.4
- Join codes are now four digits instead of six. A code still works once and expires ten minutes after it is issued.
- Your browser can remember you. After joining voice with a code once, this browser can rejoin with one tap and no code. Choose Forget this browser to remove it, and asking for a new code in game removes every remembered browser.
- Voice now runs on the island's own server instead of a rented voice service, alongside the game server and Dino Bot.
Version 2.3
- Add a Service status card to the Server Status tab showing Alderon Games, Dino Bot, the game server, and proximity voice in alphabetical order, with the player count and map for the game server when known.
- Show Alderon Games incident details in the status card, with a link to the Alderon status page, while an incident is active.
- Add a Field Report to the Server Status tab listing how many of each dinosaur species are online, counts only.
- Add a status strip to the main page with a dot for each service; selecting it opens the Server Status tab.
- Add a Donate tab with what donations fund, the monthly cost of running the island, the community voice minutes meter, and PayPal and Buy Me a Coffee buttons. The main page keeps a shorter Support Dino Island highlight with the same buttons.
- Fixed the server status card keeping an old report on screen as Healthy after the server stopped reporting. Status now reads Unknown when reports stop arriving.
Version 2.2
- Improve proximity voice direction cues with smoother stereo panning and audio fade based on distance.
- Add an optional experimental HRTF headphone mode and an audio direction test for left, right, and center.
- Add a device setting to reverse left and right for headsets that report stereo channels in reverse.
- Clarify that player facing direction is unavailable, so spatial positioning remains based on the game world axes.
Version 2.1
- Show the community total of minutes spent connected to proximity voice chat to encourage donations.
- Group the community voice minutes total and server funding details with separate PayPal and Buy Me a Coffee donation links.
- Slightly enlarge the dinosaur icon on the left side of the header.
- Show Support Dino Island beside Voice Link before connecting, then below the social features after connecting.
- Improve responsive spacing and the join form layout across desktop, tablet, and mobile screens.
Version 2.0
- Let players choose a specific Voice Link audio issue, including voice that works in only one direction, and optionally describe it when sending diagnostics.
- Allow players to send screen resolution, aspect ratio, and browser details for website layout issues.
- Reposition the send diagnostics option below the players not in voice chat.
Version 1.9
- Let players choose when to send device diagnostics to help troubleshoot audio issues with proximity voice chat.
- Choose the Voice Link audio problem, including voice that works in only one direction, add an optional description, or report screen fit details when sending diagnostics.
- Improve tablet use with voice controls and player lists side by side at narrower widths.
Version 1.8
- Shorten proximity voice range inside caves to 40 meters, and keep players inside and outside caves from hearing each other.
- Keep voice connected when you switch tabs or your screen dims by holding the screen awake and recovering paused audio or microphone after returning.
- Give the site a modern minimal look in light and dark themes, with a new dinosaur header illustration.
- Restyle the joined voice controls and microphone indicator to match the minimal theme.
Version 1.7
- Explain likely maintenance work when server health reports no recent game server activity and link visitors to Discord for support and update requests.
- Make the join code instruction for the game wrap and resize to fit mobile and desktop screens.
- Replace the header mark with a small dinosaur island icon.
Version 1.6
- Automatically recover from brief voice connection interruptions and show a clear next step if reconnection fails.
- Make Dino Voice installable as a web app for quicker access, with an offline page shell.
- Clarify that microphone permission is remembered by the browser after it is allowed.
Version 1.5
- Keep the social voice chat experience as the main page view and move server health into its own accessible tab.
Version 1.4
- Show progress for each voice connection step and give stalled join requests a clear timeout message.
- Request microphone access before redeeming single use join codes and ignore duplicate connection attempts.
- Show browser site permission instructions when microphone access is blocked, and distinguish a missing microphone.
Version 1.3
- Added a live Path of Titans server health panel with current, average, and maximum tick rates and player count.
- Moved the health panel below the voice app and made it more compact.
- Improved layouts on smaller screens, placing voice controls ahead of player lists on mobile.
Release notes are available starting with version 1.3. Earlier updates were not recorded here.
